The CTCC's Young Actor's Program offers young performers the exciting opportunity to take part in a full theatrical production, from auditions all the way to final curtain call. This immersive experience allows participants to develop their acting, stage presence, and teamwork skills while working alongside experienced directors and production staff. The program is structured around the rehearsal and performance of a complete play, giving young actors a chance to experience the full arc of character development and the collaborative nature of theatre.
Participating in theatre provides a wide range of benefits for young people, including improved communication skills, increased confidence, and the ability to work well in a group. It encourages creative expression and fosters empathy by allowing actors to step into someone else’s shoes. Children in the CTCC Young Actor's Program not only learn lines and blocking, but also build resilience through the discipline of rehearsals and the thrill of live performance. These skills carry over into all areas of life, helping young people grow into more articulate, self-assured individuals.
This one-week program offers children the opportunity to learn about all aspects of theatre production, including acting, sets, props, and costumes.
Under the guidance of experienced instructors, children will spend each day at the theatre, learning and practicing their theatre skills. The program is designed to be intensive, giving children the chance to delve deeply into the world of theatre and develop their leadership and creative skills.
At the end of the week, the children will showcase their hard work and dedication with two performances. These performances are a chance for the children to shine and show off all that they have learned throughout the week. It is a truly magical experience for both the children and the audience.
But the benefits of the Youth Summer Workshop extend far beyond just the week itself. By participating in this program, children will develop valuable team-building and communication skills, which will serve them well in all areas of life. They will learn how to work collaboratively with others towards a shared goal and will gain invaluable experience in time management and work ethic. Plus, the Youth Summer Workshop is just plain fun! Children will enjoy a week of creativity, imagination, and immersion in the world of theatre. They will make new friends and create memories that will last a lifetime.
