It’s that time of year when we start thinking about the new season! This will be CTCC’s 41st year of delighting Clay County audiences with the magic of live theatre! The first show of our next season will be the comedic thriller (yes, you read that right): The 39 Steps! We would love to see you at auditions! Keep reading to learn more!

Summary of The 39 Steps from Concord Theatricals

In The 39 Steps, a man with a boring life meets a woman with a thick accent who says she’s a spy. When he takes her home, she is murdered. Soon, a mysterious organization called “The 39 Steps” is hot on the man’s trail in a nationwide manhunt that climaxes in a death-defying finale! A riotous blend of virtuoso performances and wildly inventive stagecraft, The 39 Steps amounts to an unforgettable evening of pure pleasure!

History of The 39 Steps from Concord Theatricals

The 39 Steps was first performed at the West Yorkshire Playhouse on June 17, 2005. The original London production, by arrangement with Edward Snape for Firery Angel Limited, opened at the Tricycle Theatre in Kilburn on August 10, 2006 and transferred to the Criterion Theatre in the West End on September 14, 2006. The play premiered on Broadway at the American Airlines Theatre on January 15, 2008. Directed by Maria Aitken, the production featured Arnie Burton, Charles Edwards, Jennifer Ferrin and Cliff Saunders.

Auditions for The 39 Steps

Auditions will be held on May 7th at 6:30pm at the Community Theatre of Clay County! With Performances taking place on July 26, 27, & 28.

Come prepared to read from the script and show your versatility! Most actors in this show have to play MANY different characters!

Note: When you see the characters of “clown,” they are not traditional clowns. That’s simply the wording they use to help the script be less confusing. This is because Mr. Hannay is the only actor that gets to play one character through the whole show. One actress gets to play Annabelle, Pamela, and Margaret. And the two “clowns” play ALL of the other parts in the play!

Director for The 39 Steps

We are delighted to have Lisa Watler-Marse directing for us again! Her most recent work was seen last Summer when she directed On Golden Pond. Lisa is the kind of director that has a very clear vision and expects that her actors will help her to create it.
